Prince Rock Primary School is looking to recruit a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team in Plymouth.
The Apprentice’s Role
Prince Rock Primary School is dedicated to the provision of a stimulating, rigorous, creative and balanced education for its pupils.
This apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people, inspiring them to get more involved, motivated and promoting positive experiences within a school environment. We are looking for a motivated individual to work within our school as a teaching assistant within our reception classes.
You will be involved in a variety of duties, which will include assisting in the creation of a fun, positive, safe and inclusive learning environments, supporting small groups and individuals in the teaching environment and setting up activities, clearing away resources, looking after equipment and maintaining wall displays as guided by teaching staff.
You must be able to communicate effectively with young people to support learning and development, be flexible, committed and possess sound administrative and IT skills. You should be calm, confident and demonstrate a professional approach in your dealings with young people, staff, parents and external agencies.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to follow a career in the education sector. At times you will support extra-curricular events as well as assisting with the supervision of lunch and after school clubs.
Apprenticeships combine work with practical, on and off-the-job, training and study. An apprentice will be employed for 15 months, working alongside experienced staff to gain the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to be a fully competent Teaching Assistant. They are provided with monthly training from our highly skilled teachers and provided with our bespoke sessions to ensure apprentices understand every aspect of their apprenticeship and to help build the portfolio of evidence required for the apprentices Professional Discussion at End-Point Assessment.
You will be expected to:
- Support planning and resourcing of sessions,
- To teach and assess individuals and groups and communicate effectively with learners and staff during this process.
- Support children with additional social and/or emotional needs
- Support the teacher with management of the classroom
- Prepare and maintain resources and displays
- Undertake other duties appropriate to your apprenticeship
This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only, this incorporates the 20% off the job training.
Wages: £4.30 Per hour (£159.10 per week).
Holiday: This apprenticeship will be term time with additional off-the-job training delivered during school holidays.

Skills Required
You will need to be able to listen carefully, follow instructions and set up activities. Have a keen interest in supporting young people within the ARC. Be able to communicate effectively with young people to support learning and development. Be flexible, committed and possess sound administrative and IT skills.
Personal Qualities
The candidate needs to be patient, resourceful, able to think quickly on their feet and compassionate. They need to have a good sense of humour and a resilient nature. An interest/understanding of autism and special educational needs would be an advantage.

Prior Qualifications
5 x GCSEs, including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent levels)
Additional Requirements
In order to be successful for this position, you will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This will be arranged by the employer after successfully completing the initial interview.
The Apprenticeship for a Teaching Assistant includes:
You will be allocated an assessor who will work with you throughout your programme, offering you support throughout. Mentoring and guidance will be given to you to enable you to succeed with your apprenticeship.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have regular visits from your assessor who will monitor your progress and conduct observations within your workplace.
Whilst at Skills Group, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge/theory based, with support sessions to help you complete the required tasks.
