Roper James Solicitors is looking for a customer service apprentice to join their hardworking team in Saltash.

The Apprentice’s Role

The apprentice’s main focus will be as a receptionist, to meet and greet clients and complete some administrative tasks in their busy office in Fore Street, Saltash.

The successful applicant will be supporting fee earning staff with administrative tasks such as opening and closing files and updating database files such as the will store.

Working Hours: Your working hours will be 9am to 5pm, with an hour for lunch, minimum of 30 hours per week.

Wages: £129.00 per week. The position will pay the National Minimum Apprenticeship wage of £4.30 p/h.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Roper James Solicitors were established in Plymouth in 2010 and since then have expanded into Saltash and Ivybridge. They are a modern, progressive and specialist Solicitors’ Practice specialising in Medical Negligence and all types of Personal Injury Claims, enhanced with professional, highly experienced and approachable Residential and Commercial Property, Wills and Probate, Family Law and Employment Law Departments.

Skills Required

Good communication skills as you will need to interact with both clients and colleagues. Good telephone manner and attention to detail. Have a good level of IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Personal Qualities

Warm personality and approachable, with an ability to ask open questions to establish the clients' needs.

Prior Qualifications

No formal qualifications required for this role, but the successful applicant must be competent in Maths, English and IT.

This Apprenticeship includes:

  • Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Standard
  • Maths and English Functional Skills

As part of the apprenticeship programme, attendance is required at our Skills Group training centre. This is usually twice monthly. All other aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site by the employer. You will have regular visits from your designated Skills Group assessor, who will monitor your progress during your apprenticeship training.

Whilst at the Skills Group training centre, you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you throughout your role. Part of your training will be knowledge and theory based, with support sessions to help you with your project.
