Pink Scissors, Ivybridge are looking for a 2 x Hairdressing Apprentices to join their friendly team.

The Apprentice’s Role

They are looking for someone who is enthusiastic with great social skills, someone who is creative, and really keen to learn.

Duties are likely to include meeting and greeting our guests, booking appointments, shampooing, conditioning, blow drying and styling hair, also colour and lightening using a range of techniques.

You will study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection, alongside environmental and sustainable working practices. There is also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, and working with different hair types.

As a Hairdressing apprentice, you will also be required to attend arranged college sessions to cover additional practical training alongside structured theory sessions to enable you to cover the new Hair Professional Standard requirements.

Working Hours: The successful candidate will be working a maximum 40 hours per week over 5 days (Open from Tuesday – Saturday).

Wages: £192.40 per week, based on a 40 hour week, £4.81 per hour.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

Skills Required
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well in a team, and to be able to portray a positive friendly attitude to customers at all times.

Candidates will need to be enthusiastic about training, have a creative flair and a genuine passion for the hairdressing industry. Building good relationships with clients is a vital part of a successful salon so excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Prior Qualifications

No prior qualifications are required, just a passion for Hairdressing and a willingness to learn.

Additional Information

The salon is open from Tuesday to Saturday.

The Apprenticeship in Hairdressing includes:

  • Level 2 Hair Professional Standard
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English

All aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site and you will have regular visits every 2 to 4 weeks from your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.

As part of your apprenticeship you will be expected to attend college one day per week, where you will improve upon your knowledge and practical skills.
