ETB Autocentre is looking for an autocare apprentice to join their hardworking team in Plymstock.

The Apprentice’s Role

This position involves working as part of a small team under the supervision and support of a fully skilled mechanic. You will also assist in such tasks as completing tyre replacement and general vehicle servicing and maintenance tasks such as vehicle servicing, cambelt renewal and completing MOT repairs.

The garage opens for 4 hours each Saturday morning which you will be expected to work, however you will have a half day during the week.

A candidate with a driving licence would be desirable however this is not essential.

This role will also involve the successful candidate to attend our training centre one day per week for the duration of your apprenticeship.

Working Hours: Your typical working hours will be Monday to Saturday, 40 hours per week.

Wages: £200.00 per week, based on 40 hours per week for the first 12 months, after this time the employer will pay at least the national living wage for their age for the remaining duration of the apprenticeship programme.

Holiday: 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

The company has built up a good reputation in the local area offering a wide variety of services including tyre and exhaust replacement and general vehicle servicing and maintenance together with MOT repairs for both private and trade customers.

Past Apprentices

This employer has a history of supporting apprentices throughout the apprenticeship journey of both level 2 and progression onto the level 3 qualification.

Skills Required

Good basic hand skills are preferable, however a genuine drive to learn and develop new skills is essential. Honesty, reliability and a positive hardy attitude is also an essential quality for this role.

Prior Qualifications

No formal qualifications are required for this role.

The Apprenticeship includes:

  • Level 2 Autocare Technician Standard apprenticeship
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English (unless exempt)

An Autocare Technician carries out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles.

Working in either a Dealership or independent automotive garage environment. An Autocare Technician requires a unique combination of technical, retail and customer services skills. They will use a range of tools, measuring and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair simple system faults.
